Dr. Zarei in the Specialized Meeting on Enhancing the Quality of General Physical Education Courses at Universities: New Planning to Increase Student Participation in Sports Activities

Dr. Zarei, Director General of Physical Education at the Student Affairs Organization, announced the implementation of new programs to enhance physical activity among university students. From now on, part of the grade for general physical education courses will be allocated to participation in health monitoring and involvement in sports programs.
According to the Public Relations , Dr. Zarei highlighted that the purpose of the two-credit general course is to promote a sports culture and support an active lifestyle among students.
He stated that last academic year, the health of about 20,000 students was monitored and concerning results showed over 50% had weight issues, mainly overweight. Moreover, 67% reported low physical activity when in dormitories and classrooms.
He emphasized the high importance of sports courses for students and called it a golden opportunity to change student attitudes toward sports.
Dr. Zarei addressed existing challenges in sports and the necessity of synergy between faculties and physical education management, saying that collaboration between these two sectors will definitely yield positive results.
He also announced plans for upcoming sports awareness and counseling programs, hoping official results will be announced in the near future.
Dr. Zarei stressed that cooperation between physical education managers and faculties is crucial and this participation can improve the quality of sports programs in universities.
He declared that all students are now required to participate in sports activities, with two course credits assigned to health monitoring participation and two credits to involvement in university sports programs.
He reiterated the importance of synergy and collaboration among different university sectors, noting that success of these programs benefits students regardless of who performs the tasks.
