The Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on May 4, 2025, aimed at developing university sports and enhancing coordination among related institutions

This agreement seeks to optimize the use of the country's capacities, increase joint cooperation, and improve the quality of life within society.

Under the MoU, the two ministries will collaborate to promote university sports and coordinate various sectors of the country's sports system. Key objectives include efficient resource utilization, diversifying student sports programs, emphasizing traditional, championship, and modern sports, and strengthening interaction among relevant organizations.

To implement the agreement, a committee comprising deputies from both ministries and senior sports officials will be formed to plan and oversee the execution of the MoU. Operational guidelines will be developed within six months and communicated to relevant authorities. The agreement is valid for four years and may be extended upon mutual consent.

The signing ceremony took place in the context of preparations for the 32nd Summer Universiade Games, with both ministers emphasizing the importance of leveraging university capacities to boost sports development at all levels. The collaboration aims to enhance the quality of university sports and contribute to the advancement of both elite and grassroots sports nationwide.

This partnership also reflects a broader strategy to unify sports management across different sectors, including universities, armed forces, and schools, under the Ministry of Sports and Youth, fostering a more integrated and effective sports system in Iran
