Holding the Third Specialized Workshop on "The Role of Meditation in Sports" at the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Science
The third specialized workshop on "The Role of Meditation in Sports" will be held in person on the 25th of Dey, 1404 (January 15, 2026) at the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Science, with the aim of promoting mental health, increasing focus, and improving sports performance.
According to the public relations report of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Science, the third specialized workshop on "The Role of Meditation in Sports" will be taught by Dr. Alireza Aghababa, head of the Sociology and Sports Psychology Department at the Institute.
This workshop is designed with the goal of enhancing mental and psychological performance in sports and provides a scientific and practical opportunity for athletes, coaches, and professionals in the field of sports psychology to become familiar with the role of meditation and mindfulness in increasing focus, reducing stress, and improving sports performance.
Dr. Aghababa stated that the objectives of holding this workshop are to teach the principles and techniques of meditation, strengthen conscious connection with oneself and others, explain the impact of meditation on sports performance, and promote mental and physical health.
This workshop will be held in a theoretical-practical format as an 8-hour, one-day course. With no specific prerequisites, it is suitable for graduates of psychology and sports psychology, coaches, athletes, and anyone interested in stress control and performance improvement.
Throughout this course, various topics will be covered, including: an introduction to different types of meditation and related scientific evidence; training in basic and advanced breathing techniques; correct sitting postures; guided meditation practice; gentle physical movements; body scan exercises; five-senses meditation in daily activities; and methods for managing intrusive thoughts.
In the final part of the workshop, participants will become familiar with moving meditation, loving-kindness meditation, breathing techniques for achieving deep relaxation, and independent, unguided meditation. They will also practically practice how to apply meditation in sports training and daily life.
With a scientific and experience-based approach, this workshop introduces meditation as an effective process for enhancing mindfulness in both motion and stillness, and explains its role in achieving more consistent performance in sports and life.
At the end of the course, a valid certificate from the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Science of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology will be awarded to participants.
