A specialized session was held as part of the 24th Sportex International Exhibition on Sports Equipment and Technology. The session was managed by Dr Mohamadhassan from the SSRI.
Esteemed experts participated, including Dr Arshi, a professor at Amirkabir University, who emphasized the necessity of creating and processing big data, a deep understanding of data’s role in sports infrastructure, building robust foundations, and establishing a system for retraining in the digital transformation of sports.
Mr Gohari, CEO of Iranian Daneshsalar Company, highlighted key private sector investment priorities and identified major obstacles such as complex regulations, data opacity, and a product-centric rather than result-oriented approach.
Dr Maleki, head of the Olympic Committee’s Technology and Innovation Department, described the launch of a data-driven monitoring system overseeing national teams and the implementation of personal athlete profiles across all disciplines. He stressed the importance of sustaining an organizational culture supporting digitalization and continuous managerial decision-making advancing sports technology.
In a concluding summary, Dr Mohamadhassan noted that the main strategic areas for policymaker attention include governance (calling for unified leadership and data-driven policy over subjective preferences), economic independence from government funding via private revenue models, human resources (developing new job roles and bridging academia-industry gaps), and technological evolution (advocating for data mining and AI as essentials in elite sports).
This expert session reviewed current Iranian sports technology status and future needs, underscoring urgent action to prevent lagging behind regional and global competitors.
The Sportex 2025 Exhibition took place from October 23 to 26, 2025, at the Permanent Tehran International Exhibition Center, featuring this session along with other thematic workshops and presentations.
