A specialized meeting on "Sports and the Sacred Defense" was held at the SSRI on Wednesday, September 30, 2025. The meeting focused on the role of sports during the Sacred Defense period and examined

 

The event was attended by Dr. Fariba Mohammadi, the institute's president; Seyed Ahmad Seyed Bagheri, senior advisor to the Federation of Veterans and Disabled; Dr. Mohammad Dowruzni, advisor to the Minister of Sports and Youth; Dr. Khazaei; Dr. Seyed Mojtaba Ghasemi, a veteran of the Iran-Iraq war; Dr. Meh Ali Barancheh, president of the Zurkhaneh and Pahlevani Sports Federation; Dr. Mehdi Mir Jalili, head of the Sports Basij Organization; Ms. Elaheh Karam, sister of a martyr; and faculty members of the institute. Many participants joined virtually from universities nationwide.

Dr. Mohammadi welcomed the guests and virtual attendees, congratulated the birth of the 11th shining star of Imamat and Wilayah, Imam Hasan Askari (peace be upon him), and commemorated the martyrs of the Sacred Defense era, especially athlete martyrs.

She emphasized the institute’s commitment to continuing the brilliant path of these dear ones in scientific, research, and cultural fields and keeping their ideals alive through service to present and future generations.

The meeting highlighted how veterans used sports as a tool for unity, resilience, and physical preparedness to serve the noble goals of the Sacred Defense, creating lasting epics with faith and steadfast will.

Dr. Mohammadi also appreciated the efforts of Dr. Seyed Ahmad Bagheri in the oral history project of sports during the Sacred Defense and cooperation with the National Olympic Committee.

Participants exchanged views and experiences, discussing the scientific, cultural, and social dimensions of sports during the Sacred Defense period.
