Dr. Mohammad Reza Ibn al-Din Hamidi emphasized in a knowledge-enhancement session titled "Activism of the University Sports Community Regarding the Imposed War" that sports can be a powerful tool

He noted that the Basij Organization of University Professors, with over 33,000 members registered in the human capital system, encompasses about one-third of the country's academic faculty, making it a significant capacity for policymaking within the governance system.Dr. Hamidi stated that the organization defines its mission as developing policy packages and providing macro solutions to national issues. Faculty members, drawing on their scientific and lived experiences, can identify sports-related problems and design practical policy packages to present to decision-making bodies. These packages can underpin legislation, reform administrative processes, or serve as scientific demands directed at responsible agencies.Highlighting the role of sports during the Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq War) era, he recalled that over 5,000 athlete-martyrs were lost, and sports formed an inseparable part of the war fronts. Even in harsh wartime conditions, combatants maintained morale through sports activities and competitions named after martyrs.Dr. Hamidi stressed that today sports must find their role in new types of warfare, beyond physical functions, serving as a means for social cohesion, national identity building, and strengthening social capital. Sports events unite diverse social groups, and this social solidarity holds great value for the Islamic system.Regarding the political dimensions of sports, he acknowledged FIFA's statutes' emphasis on non-politicization but argued that in practice, sports are political arenas. The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a religious and ideological regime, cannot remain indifferent to the struggle between truth and falsehood, and must leverage sports capacities to support the oppressed and confront false forces. He concluded by congratulating the occasion of Sacred Defense Week and reaffirmed the vast potential of sports as a major social asset dedicated to Islam and the Islamic Revolution. He urged faculty members to utilize their scientific and research capabilities to develop policy packages and practical strategies to enhance the country's sports sector and strengthen national cohesion, thus contributing to the cause of scientific advocacy and the future of the Islamic system
