Supreme Leader Meets with University Students, Emphasizes Role of Youth in Building a Better Future for Iran

In a meeting with approximately 3,000 students and representatives of political, social, cultural, and academic organizations from universities across Iran, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, underscored the importance of a "better tomorrow" as the ultimate goal of the nation and the Islamic Republic. The gathering, held yesterday afternoon, was reported by the Public Relations Department of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Science, citing the official website of the Supreme Leader’s Office.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the student environment as vibrant, dynamic, and full of enthusiasm, urging students and student organizations to propose innovative solutions for the nation’s material and spiritual progress. He emphasized that the primary responsibilities of universities are to educate scholars, produce knowledge, and guide these efforts toward meaningful outcomes.

The Supreme Leader highlighted the importance of thoughtful and realistic proposals that address the nation’s challenges. He stressed that every suggestion should be analytical, mature, and aimed at resolving problems. Responding to a question about his evolving perspective on justice since 2001, Ayatollah Khamenei noted that his commitment to justice has only grown stronger over time.

Reflecting on the spiritual atmosphere of the recent Ramadan, the Supreme Leader praised the increased participation in Quran recitation sessions and other religious activities. He advised students to maintain the spiritual purity gained during the holy month, emphasizing that avoiding sin is the key to preserving this spiritual light.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned against the dangers of careless speech and actions, particularly in the digital space, where unverified statements can lead to unintended harm. He clarified that his advice does not discourage criticism but calls for careful consideration in all words and deeds.

Describing students as energetic, motivated, and future-oriented, the Supreme Leader urged them to remain active and sensitive to the nation’s future. He acknowledged that the challenges facing the country are far greater than those discussed in the meeting and expressed hope that, with proper planning and effort, these issues could be significantly reduced within five years.

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that while academic study is the primary duty of students, they must also remain engaged with societal issues and contribute to solving the nation’s problems. He emphasized that the ultimate goal of the country and the Islamic Republic is to achieve a "better tomorrow," which requires defining clear ideals and working toward them.

The Supreme Leader outlined the historical context of the Islamic Revolution, contrasting the current system with the corrupt and dependent regime of the Pahlavi dynasty. He highlighted the achievements of the Revolution, including national independence, scientific progress, and social justice, while acknowledging that many goals remain unfulfilled.

Ayatollah Khamenei identified two overarching ideals of the Islamic Republic: governing the country according to Islamic principles and presenting a model of good governance to the world. He called on students to continuously innovate and develop new strategies to achieve these goals.

The Supreme Leader also addressed the role of universities, emphasizing their three main responsibilities: educating scholars, producing knowledge, and directing these efforts toward meaningful outcomes. He noted that many global universities struggle with the third responsibility, often producing knowledge that serves oppressive and Zionist powers.

In his concluding remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei urged student organizations to strengthen their intellectual foundations and actively counter efforts to undermine Iranian identity. He called for a balanced approach that combines critical thinking with pride in the nation’s achievements.

The meeting concluded with representatives from six student organizations presenting their views, criticisms, and suggestions on various national issues, including economic challenges, social justice, educational equity, and the need for unity in the Islamic world, particularly in support of the oppressed people of Gaza.

This gathering highlighted the Supreme Leader’s continued focus on empowering the youth and student community as key drivers of Iran’s progress and resilience in the face of challenge
