SSRII Host Training Course on Physical Activity Guidelines for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities

Tehran, Iran – The Sports Science Research Institute will hold a training course on physical activity and exercise guidelines for individuals with intellectual disabilities on November 1-2, 2024. The 16-hour course will be available both in-person (at the institute) and online.

Expert Instructors

The course will be led by renowned experts in the fields of sports science, rehabilitation, and healthcare:
    •    Dr. Hossein Nahavinejad – Specialist in Geriatric Medicine, President of Special Olympics Iran
    •    Dr. Mojgan Farahbod – PhD in Healthcare Management, Exceptional Children Research Institute
    •    Dr. Ali Kashi – Associate Professor, Sports Science Research Institute
    •    Dr. Zahra Sarlak – PhD in Exercise Physiology, Assistant Professor, Islamic Azad University
    •    Dr. Mohammad Shariatzadeh – Associate Professor, Sports Science Research Institute

Course Schedule

Day 1: Friday, November 1
    •    08:00 – 10:00: Understanding Intellectual Disabilities and Their Characteristics (Dr. Farahbod)
    •    10:00 – 12:00: Assessment and Measurement in Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (Dr. Farahbod)
    •    13:00 – 15:00: Community-Based Rehabilitation for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (Dr. Nahavinejad)
    •    15:00 – 17:00: Adaptive and Inclusive Physical Education & Unified Sports (Dr. Kashi)

Day 2: Saturday, November 2
    •    08:00 – 10:00: Principles of Exercise Training for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (Dr. Kashi)
    •    10:00 – 12:00: Effective Training Programs and Introduction to a Specialized Training Package (Dr. Kashi)
    •    13:00 – 15:00: Exercise Program Design for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (Dr. Shariatzadeh)
    •    15:00 – 17:00: Nutritional Considerations for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (Dr. Sarlak)

Registration and Participation

The course is open to the public with no prerequisites required. Participants will receive an official certificate from the Sports Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology.
