According to the Public Relations Department of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, on the occasion of National Elites Day, Dr. Saeed Habiba, the Deputy Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, and the accompanying delegation, met with the members of the Board of Trustees and faculty members of the Institute.
Present at this meeting were Dr. Zahra Salman (President of the Institute), Dr. Hossein Zareian (Vice President for Cultural and Social Affairs), Dr. Mohsen Esmaeili (Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies), Dr. Behnam Naqi Pour (Acting Vice President for Technology), and several managers and faculty members of the Institute.
At the beginning of the session, Dr. Zahra Salman, President of the Institute, expressed condolences for the martyrdom of Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary-General of Hezbollah Lebanon, Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, and several commanders of the Islamic Resistance. She also outlined some of the major activities and achievements carried out over the past two years, including the establishment of a Think Tank for Transformation in Sports Science and Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Science, membership in the National Research Institutes Assembly, conducting applied and needs-based research projects, holding the 14th International Sports Science Congress, active participation in national exhibitions on research and technology, and receiving top rankings for all the Institute’s journals.
Dr. Salman also highlighted other accomplishments, such as reviewing ethical certificates and issuing certificates, evaluating patent registration declarations as a competent authority in the field of sports equipment, conducting postdoctoral programs, supporting startup teams through the National Innovation Center, and receiving accreditation from the Presidency of the Republic’s Science and Technology Deputy.
She also emphasized the Institute’s leading role in women’s sports innovation, launching a scientific journal on Women’s Sports Research, and the publication of specialized books.
Furthermore, Dr. Salman referred to the achievement of the Institute being ranked as the top research center in Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts, as recognized by the Institute for Research and Development of Science and Technology.
In the continuation of the meeting, Dr. Habiba, while acknowledging the Institute’s achievements, pledged his full support for advancing the Institute towards excellence and achieving the goals set by this academic and research center. He mentioned that the concerns and suggestions raised by the faculty members would be carefully considered, and efforts would be made to work collaboratively with this young team to achieve national objectives.
Dr. Habiba also emphasized the important role of university elites in addressing the country’s major issues and the need for faculty members to contribute to solving the challenges faced by sports in Iran and utilizing existing opportunities to serve Islamic Iran.
It is noteworthy that the Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences comprises three research institutes and nine research groups: the Institute of Movement Science and Health (including Research Groups in Exercise Physiology, Sports Nutrition, Sports Medicine, and Biomechanics), the Institute of Behavioral and Cognitive Sports Science (including Research Groups in Motor Behavior Science, Sports Psychology, and Sports Law & Sociology), and the Institute of Management and Sports Business (with research groups in Sports Marketing, Sports Governance, and Sports Employment & Entrepreneurship). The Institute also has around 60 staff members (faculty members and administrative employees) working in various fields such as Administration, Research & Graduate Studies, Cultural & Social Affairs, and Technology.
