SSRII Officials Hold Informal Meeting with New Master’s Students
Tehran, October 20, 2024 – In celebration of National Physical Education and Sports Week, the Sports Science Research Institute of Iran (SSRI) hosted an informal gathering with newly admitted master’s students. The event, held on Saturday, October 19, was attended by Dr. Zahra Salman, President of SSRI; Dr. Mohsen Esmaeili, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies; Dr. Hossein Zareian, Vice President for Cultural and Social Affairs; Dr. Amir Shams, Head of the Sport and Society Research Center; and Dr. Nazanin Rasekh, Director of Specialized Training and Graduate Studies.
A Call for Academic Excellence
At the start of the session, Dr. Salman condemned the recent violence by the Zionist regime and expressed condolences on the martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar, the political leader of Hamas. She prayed for an end to oppression worldwide.
Welcoming the new students, Dr. Salman congratulated them on their admission and encouraged them to take full advantage of their time at SSRI.
“We hope to see you as future professors and researchers in universities and scientific institutions. As a teacher, my advice to you is to dedicate yourselves to academic growth—not only by attending lectures but by extensively reading books and research articles. Your primary focus should be on gaining knowledge and deepening your expertise.”
She also emphasized the importance of thesis preparation, urging students to select impactful research topics that contribute to society, industry, and the sports sector.
“In today’s world of rapidly advancing technology and easy access to scientific resources, I encourage you to leverage modern research tools, stay updated with the latest findings, and produce a thesis that makes a real difference in sports science and the broader community.”
Research and Innovation Opportunities at SSRI
Following Dr. Salman’s remarks, Dr. Esmaeili provided an overview of SSRI’s research structure, highlighting its three research centers and 25 faculty members specializing in various sports science fields.
“SSRI publishes books and operates eight scientific journals, most of which have earned top-tier ratings over the past two years. This presents an excellent opportunity for students to collaborate with faculty on research publications.”
He also introduced SSRI’s specialized laboratories, which are fully equipped for advanced research in sports sciences. Additionally, he encouraged students with entrepreneurial ideas to submit proposals for potential funding and support through SSRI’s Sports Technology Innovation Center, which has already backed several startups and knowledge-based companies in the sports sector.
Referring to SSRI’s International Congress on Sports Science, Dr. Esmaeili noted:
“Our international congress is one of the largest gatherings of sports science professionals in Iran. Over the past 14 editions, it has been held annually or biennially, providing a platform for students to present papers and gain hands-on experience by collaborating with organizing committees.”
Administrative Guidance for New Students
Dr. Nazanin Rasekh, Director of Specialized Training and Graduate Studies, provided insights on academic regulations, particularly for students with non-related undergraduate degrees who need to complete prerequisite courses.
She also advised students to update their personal profiles on SSRI’s education portal to ensure smooth administrative processes, including degree issuance upon graduation.
Student Interaction and Q&A
The meeting concluded with an interactive session, where students introduced themselves and asked questions. The institute’s officials addressed their queries, reinforcing SSRI’s commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and student success.
