According to the Public Relations Office of SSRII, quoting ANA News Agency, the first National School for Journal Editing and Management was held at the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology headquarters.
Morteza Taheri, Advisor for the Indexing of Research Achievements at the Ministry of Science, stated that this program was designed by the Ministry’s Commission for Journals and the Office for Research Planning and Policy to enhance the skills and expertise of editors-in-chief and executive managers of academic journals.
The event provided participants with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with international standards and best practices in scientific publishing.
Taheri highlighted that the program covered a wide range of topics, including the principles and foundations of scientific publishing, indexing and evaluation metrics for journals, publication ethics, methods for detecting and preventing plagiarism, successful international models for academic publishing, and reputable databases.
Participants also engaged in practical workshops focused on peer review processes, strategies to increase article citations, and improving the visibility of journals.
The University of Tehran professor emphasized that a key objective of the school was to strengthen Iran’s scholarly leadership, particularly in the field of humanities.
He noted that by publishing reputable academic journals, this field—dedicated to exploring cultural, social, and human issues—can play a pivotal role in enhancing public understanding and knowledge. Specialized training provided during the school helped editors and journal experts in the humanities become familiar with international standards and methods to improve journal quality, ultimately contributing to Iran’s academic standing on the global stage.
The program, which featured esteemed scholars and experts in the field, offered participants valuable hands-on experience and equipped them with essential skills for managing and advancing academic journals.
At the conclusion of the program, active and successful participants were awarded certificates in journal editing or management.
These certificates are recognized as significant merits by the Ministry’s Commission for Journals and are expected to help improve the quality and standing of academic journals in the country, particularly within the humanities.
