Introduction Ceremony for Dr. Mostafa Afshari as Head of the N.U.S.F.I.R.I Held
According to SSRII, citing the National University Sports Federation’s information portal, the introduction ceremony for Dr. Mostafa Afshari as the new Acting Head of the National University Sports Federation took place in the presence of several prominent figures.
Attendees included Dr. Saeed Habiba, Deputy Minister of Science and Head of the Student Affairs Organization; Dr. Allahyari, Deputy for Support and Resource Management; Dr. Daneshian, Deputy for Domestic Student Affairs; Dr. Zarei, Director General of Physical Education; and Mr. Mohseni, Advisor to the President and Director General of Security Affairs and Affiliated Institutions.
Dr. Saeed Habiba: “A Positive Shift for University Sports”
During the event, Dr. Habiba expressed optimism, stating, “The appointment of Dr. Afshari marks a positive development for university sports. With his leadership, we anticipate significant progress in this sector.”
Highlighting the interplay between mental and physical health, Dr. Habiba added, “For students to become effective and productive members of society, both mental and physical health are essential.
Physical fitness, facilitated through sports and physical education, is a cornerstone of this balance.”
Dr. Habiba emphasized the importance of synergy among the Directorate General of Physical Education, the National University Sports Federation, and the Sports Sciences Research Institute. He expressed hope for innovative programs to drive meaningful change in university sports nationwide.
The Deputy Minister also stressed the potential of university athletes to contribute significantly to national sports, underscoring the need for strong collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth to secure both financial and moral support. Dr. Allahyari, Deputy for Support and Resource Management, highlighted the link between physical and mental health, stating, “Creating conditions for a healthy body and, consequently, a healthy mind is a critical mission requiring coordination, determination, and meticulous planning.”
He noted that academic environments serve as a “habitat” for students and staff, where they spend a substantial part of their lives. “These spaces must promote well-being and vitality, achievable only through the holistic health of mind and body,” he added.

Dr. Daneshian, Deputy for Domestic Student Affairs, reaffirmed his dedication to advancing university sports, saying, “We are fully committed to supporting this vital sector. Sports play a foundational role in fostering dynamism and vitality in universities.”
He stressed the goal of enhancing student enthusiasm and energy through sports and pledged unwavering support to achieve this.
Dr. Zarei: “Synergy Across Three Pillars of Higher Education Sports”
Dr. Zarei, Director General of Physical Education, described the current moment as an “exceptional opportunity” for university sports, citing increased trust in young talent and institutional support. He expressed optimism that the collaborative efforts of the Directorate General of Physical Education, the National University Sports Federation, and the Sports Sciences Research Institute would yield significant achievements.
