University Sports Leaders Convene to Discuss Strategic Roadmap for University Sports

A meeting of secretaries from the 10 Regional Sports Committees of Iranian Universities was held at the headquarters of the Student Affairs Organization, attended by Dr. Habiba, Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology and President of the Student Affairs Organization.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Habiba expressed gratitude for the efforts of the regional secretaries, emphasizing the critical importance of university sports as a key focus of the organization. “Three major entities—the Physical Education Department of the Student Affairs Organization, the National University Sport Federation, and the Sports Science Research Institute of Iran—are all working diligently to advance university sports in the country,” he stated.

Highlighting the importance of strategic planning in this domain, Dr. Habiba remarked: “Proper groundwork in university sports will pave the way for student-athletes to excel at the national level. The regional secretaries are the strong arms of university and national sports, and their role in setting a clear roadmap for the advancement of university sports is crucial.”

He urged the regional secretaries to consider the unique challenges of their respective regions and submit tailored proposals to the Student Affairs Organization. “Each region has its own specific characteristics, so your insights are vital for us to design effective programs based on localized needs,” he added.

Dr. Habiba also stressed the role of sports in fostering mental health and combating the negative effects of over-reliance on technology. “Scientific research has shown that excessive use of technology contributes to introversion and depression in societies. Sports provide an excellent solution to counter these issues and promote vitality on university campuses,” he noted.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Habiba expressed optimism about the future of university sports. “With the planning efforts of the Physical Education Department, the support of the Student Affairs Organization, and the dedication, creativity, and persistence of all of you, I am confident we can achieve our goals,” he said.

This meeting underscores the organization’s commitment to enhancing university sports as a means of improving both physical well-being and campus culture across the nation.
