The 2nd Ethics in Research Enhancement Course Successfully Concluded
The Sport Sciences Research Institute of Iran successfully hosted its second Ethics in Research Enhancement Course on December 8th and 9th, 2024. The two-day online course, aimed at faculty members across the country, provided comprehensive training on ethical considerations in research.
As reported by the SSRI Public Relations Department, the course covered a wide range of topics, including clinical trials, informed consent, animal research, and research misconduct. Distinguished professors from various universities shared their expertise, offering valuable insights and practical guidance.
Dr. Anoushiravan Kazemnejad, Professor at Tarbiat Modares University, initiated the discussions with a focus on clinical trials. He addressed common challenges faced by researchers and highlighted the importance of informed consent and proper sampling techniques.
Dr. Mina Frouzandeh, Associate Professor at Iran University of Medical Sciences, provided a historical overview of the evolution of research ethics. She emphasized the significance of the Nuremberg Code and the Declaration of Helsinki, and discussed the importance of researcher-participant interactions and informed consent.
Dr. Majid Piristani, Associate Professor at Tarbiat Modares University, delved into the ethical considerations of animal research. He covered topics such as care and handling of laboratory animals, pain assessment, and euthanasia.
Dr. Amin Talebi, Associate Professor at Tarbiat Modares University, concluded the course by discussing research misconduct and the importance of maintaining research integrity. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive plan to enhance Iran's research capacity and achieve regional leadership in research.
The course, which was well-attended by faculty members from across the country, received positive feedback. Participants appreciated the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of research ethics and network with colleagues from different institutions.
